One dead in attic

I think identifying yourself with a place as strongly as he does is healthy to a certain extent. If you become so bias that you can't enjoy other places and you begin to offend others then it becomes unhealthy. I identify myself with Des Moines. I have lived there my whole life and I love it. It is most certainly a large reason why I am the way I am. I don't think I think of it the way Rose thinks of New Orleans. I would be ok living somewhere else and I definitely don't think it is better than all the other places. It isn't everything about me and it isn't the best way to describe who I am. I think the way I think of Des Moines is healthy, but I think that the way Rose thinks of New Orleans is borderline unhealthy. Places tend to identify us, but only to a certain extent. His overabundance of pride annoys me, but that may just be the way most people from New Orleans are or just the way he is. I get that he is proud but there is more to life and a person then the city they are from.
