Bcu community events blog #2
I went to the baseball game againt morningside on September, 29th. It was a fall ball game so it was casual. The didn't use the score boards and they had players as umps. I was sitting right behind home plate. I went with a friend of mine who is a sophomore here who I met through cheerleading along with one of her other friends. There were a few other spectators. Most of them were parents and most of them for morning side. The game wasn't very intense so the crowd wasn't super into it. I didn't really understand baseball at all so my friend, who's boyfriend is one of the pitchers is on the team, was explaining it to me. I had been to Iowa cubs games before but I never really paid any attention. It was cold and windy and pretty quiet. I learned that I don't really like baseball that much because I like intense action filled sports. It was still interesting to watch and learn about. My friend told me that these kinda of games are used to help the coaches decide who they want on varsity and jv and who they want to start when the official season begins. It was kind of scary where we were sitting because the left handed batters would sometimes hit a foul ball that cane right at us. There was a net there but it stillnscared me a little. We lost the game from my count. I thought that it was a little boring but I enjoyed learning more about the game. I liked being able to just sit and watch and know what I was going on towards the end when I finally understood the rules. I didn't like how long it was because it was so cold out and I didn't like just sitting there in the wind. I think my reaction was the same with most people but diffent in that I think most of the crowd enjoyed it more than I would. I don't think I will go to another game anytime sin but it was nice to learn a new game. This was very different then the iowa cubs games I used to go to. I actually paid attention, there went as many people, it was cold, and there weren't any peanut. Also the players aren't as good and peopl weren't yelling and getting really into the game. I think I may have enjoyed it more if it were summer and a lot of people were there. I think if I ever go to another Iowa cubs game, I will probably enjoy it more and pay more attention because I actually understand baseball now.
